The now destroyed Mohammad Ali Jinnah's statue was installed in June at Marine Drive, an area which was considered a safe zone. The banned militant organization Baloch Republican Army took the responsibility of the attack.
The blast occurred when unknown miscreants lobbed a hand grenade in which two children were also injured.
No one has so far taken the responsibility of the attack but Baloch militants often target the security forces in the province.
An emergency has been declared at all hospitals in the area.
Balochistan is a volatile region in the southwestern borders of Pakistan that considers itself under Pakistani occupation. The Baloch people say that they got independence from the British on August 11, 1947
The attack took place shortly after a police van arrived at the site to provide security to the people, offering prayers at the mosque.
Eight persons, including four civilians, a Pakistan Navy soldier, were killed and six others were injured in the deadly attack. All three attackers were also killed by the security forces
